Had to give myself a bit of a kick up the ar*e to get out there tonight. I was excited about starting week 9, but I always face a new week with trepidation. Travelling home tomorrow, so I needed to get my last seaside run in tonight.
My left sock went AWOL again within 5 paces and Sarah was getting emotional. At least MapMyRun had found its bearings..!!
Warm up walk turned into a rather over energetic run. 10 minutes in and I was struggling. For a couple of seconds I actually had doubts that I would manage 30 minutes. I slowed it right down and tried to distract myself by surveying the scenery. A few fireworks helped my cause. The halfway heads up made me feel better and I turned for home. I saw a runner heading in my direction so, as I was free from snot bubbles, I smiled at her maniacally. Pretty young lady who smiled sweetly back at me (with undertones of "How the hell is that woman managing to remain upright")..?? Nevertheless, it made me feel good. Couple of minutes later another runner came leaping forth so, feeling self assured, I proffered another cheesy grin. Well, the stuck up tw@t couldn't have sneered further down his nose 😯 As he passed, I raised my arms, did jazz hands in the air and flicked him a double 'V'. Only then did I think "Sh*t, he can run 12 times faster than me"..!! 😱
Sarah congratulated me on 20 minutes of activity and then ... something happened to my legs ... "Go, go gadget magic bloody robot legs".....!!!!! These legs were NOT mine... they just took over, sped up and went for it 😳 Oh WOW, it felt AMAZING..!! With absolutely no effort, I was running... I FELT LIKE A BLOODY GAZELLE...!!! 🤗🤗 ... until I had to stop ... this was the point when reality returned and I was acutely aware that those legs really were my legs... and they had turned to rubber 😆
I am absolutely elated, knackered but elated. Long may this continue ☺️

I have encountered several runners who failed to respond to my friendly grimace, and often thought, if I could run fast enough I’d chase them down and inflict a bit of runners rage on them ... 😂😂😂, probably a good job I’m not fast enough ...
Haha, runners rage... I like the sound of that..!! The runner I encountered last night was wearing a ridiculous orange sweat band on his head - I hoped it would slip down over his eyes and he'd trip and face plant the tarmac..!! ... ooh, that sounded more aggressive than it should have 😂
You must get some, they're amazing..!! I actually borrowed them from Sadie-runs but I think she needs them back 😔 If you ask her nicely I'm sure she'd lend them to you 😉

I loved your post, from your sock going awol to your jazz hands moment! Some runners do seem frightfully sniffy about acknowledging others. I used to be too out of breath to speak but would at least give a smile or grimace, or eye contact, or a nod.
But, you had your gadget legs, so never mind about Sniffy Runner. You were fantastic. Enjoy your next too runs and see you on the podium.
Tell yer, it’s a man thing! I think they try to act cool and nonchalant. Ne’er mind, one day you can get your own back when you find him riddled with cramp in his glute and you dance past with your nose in the air.
Anyway life’s too short to sweat the small stuff. You did brilliantly by the sound of it 😃🏃♀️👍✔️
Well done! I've been trying to perfect the runner's nod as another runner approaches. I probably look more like a nodding dog! Enjoy your running, keep at it.
Jazz hands and a double V - I'm nicking that for Mrs Spaniels!!.... sounds like some of her relatives are living on the south coast though.... at least you won't see them ever again, n*bheads. Simple civility is sadly becoming a thing of the past.
I only really see dog walkers, so now I make a point of saying a big hello to the dogs first and then smile at the owners. Apart from Fag Lady, who comes out of her flat and sits on a bench puffing away. She thinks I'm a fat cow I know it. Probably because she thinks I am judging her. I always say hello out of spite. And I'm always appreciative of a lungful of B&H halfway round a lap .....

OMG, Fag Lady... that's sooo bloody funny..!! I can just see it now. She must love creating that smoke curtain for you to run through... probably lights up about 8 fags at once to achieve the desired effect 🤣🤣

I think 8 fags at a time is about standard for her! Still could always be worse, I prefer fags to diesel if I have a choice!

I challenged a young lad in school uniform yesdy. He was in the bus stop and he turned round as I ran towards him and blew out the biggest load of smoke right in my face. I said I thought the Flying Scotsman was going past! He didn’t have a clue what I was talking about but apologised. Kids ey.
