Great fun at Poppy Run

Well, that was great fun! There weren’t many runners at the York Poppy Run this morning but it was a well-organised event with a lovely family atmosphere and the warm up was the best of any event I’ve been to so far. This is usually a bugbear of mine at organised races so I was pleased that this morning’s was really thorough and I felt nicely stretched out before the start.

The run itself was nothing to write home about really. Like parkrun and Race for Life, it was at the racecourse, which I find relatively dull but fast. I’d originally hoped for a pb because I’d thought the race was tomorrow. However, it followed a late Friday night of beer, curry and cocktails so I wasn’t feeling particularly speedy. I was chuffed to bits with an undeserved and none-too-shabby 28.37 and its a really lovely bit of bling.

I’d also considered doing parkrun first but wasn’t sure how I’d feel about doing two 5ks with a 90 minute gap in between. I did meet a few lovely people who’d done both this morning though so maybe next year...

Just back from the Clapham one, fantastic morning out, park run wasn’t an option logistically though so just the one run today.
