So at 7:30 this morning I lay in bed listening to the rain batter down on the roof trying to decide whether to get up and do the Parkrun. Being the eternal optimist I thought that the weather could only get better so got dressed and set off to my local park armed with all of the waterproof gear I could find. When I reached the car park the rain seemed to have got even harder but it was still 20 minutes to the start so I waited in the car. I did notice that there were runners passing by in both directions which seemed odd but when I set off for the start I found that the run had been cancelled - nothing to do with the weather but because of work taking place in the park.
At this point I realised that I am now hooked on running because instead of feeling relieved not to get drenched, I was disappointed not to be running. So I set off for one of my old walking routes along the Sustrans cycle way - somewhere I had been meaning to run for a while and did my own private Parkrun. I beat my previous best time and it stopped raining. Lovely start to a Saturday.
