W3D1 Was Easy

After a short break during week 2 we just started week 3 and found it oddly easy. Almost too easy, both DH and I felt we could do a other 3 minutes run. I am excited, but also a bit nervous, does this mean we are doing well and our long walks have helped us or will we soon hit a wall and find that we will be unable to progress?

You're doing fine, many people say they feel like they could continue after some of the runs and that's good, stick to the program though, it'll guide you through the runs you need to do to get you through to graduation.

People come to this programme with a huge range of ages, physical abilities and disabilities. The process is as easy or as hard as you want it to be. Starting with, what I now realise, was above average fitness levels for those contributing to the forum, I ran the whole programme as fast as I could, once I established what was a sustainable pace.

Had I run slower it would have been easier, but I wanted that challenge. There is no need to run fast to complete the plan, although if you run slower you will obviously not cover as much ground at graduation. Running faster also increases your injury risk.

If you find it too easy, try speeding up. Conversely, slow down if you are struggling. There is no predefined speed requirement to complete the plan, so you are in control.

There is no inevitability about your progress, but certainly if you bring greater fitness to the start of the process you will have an easier journey............ unless you make it hard for yourself.

I can honestly say I have no clue how my fitness level compares and I am not sure I can even hazard a guess. I walk daily, and can walk 5k right at an hour without struggle. Nothing spectacular, but not horrid either.

I am setting my route to ensure I am running up hill as much as possible. I will have to adjust my route each week, but I am confident I am able to manage to find routes with enough hills to increase the challenge.

As long as you keep it slow and steady... you will be fine.. there are no walls:)

Folk come unstuck if they push too hard and too fast too soon.. the runs build you up steadily and in an injury free way.. so..just go with it... your way, but, always having something left in the tank.. as the runs get longer you will feel the benefit from this approach!

No need for nerves...just move on and enjoy:)
