So it looks peaceful in the picture but nature decided to push back at me today in the shape of Storm "Aileen" and her delightful 60mph winds. Made the outward journey something of a challenge either constantly being pushed into the ditch by the side of the road, or just plain trying to make me run in one place. I guess this is what it feels like for those that train on a Treadmill......lots of effort, but staying in the same place.
I still ended up with a pretty reasonable run, not as far as previously and my legs definitely felt the extra effort that the wind had made me expend - but the return journey at least had some help with the wind at my back...disappointingly though,, it had started to drop quite a bit by the time I turned for home (born out by the picture), beautiful blue skies by the end.
I had spent five minutes trying to decide whether to go out or delay until later in the day - but glad I committed and stepped out anyway. The wind certainly made the run dramatic, and the sunrise was spectacular over all the dark clouds, throwing shadows across the stubble fields, and the good news is - despite nature throwing her weight around, I managed to get my weight moving for the entire 28 minutes.
Now onto the last run of the week - and I've decided to give my first park run a go, going to maintain a steady pace and go through the same process I do with every run, just I need to see if I can do this when running with other people. So Saturday morning at 9am will find me on the start line of the Lowestoft Park Run. Wish me luck. Hopefully will set me up nicely for graduation week.
Happy running everyone!
