Well here we are at week 2 of the new Quest πΊπ½. How are you all doing?
I decided to call it this as we have experienced a lot of rain in the UK this Summer....!!! Some people love to run in the rain ( me!!!) and others don't... I think running in the rain can mean so many things: Having fun, enjoying nature, running through stormy times in our lives and also the chance to embrace something different to what we are used to. So I would encourage you to use this quest to go outside of your boundaries and try something different. Or if you are struggling, use it to re- energise your running journey and refresh your goals.
Welcome to Week 1... πΆπ
What the quest is:-
The quest takes six weeks.
You can join any time within that six weeks.
The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
We ask that you are a graduate . The main reason we ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured, so we wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.
Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.
So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put:
I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............
Your name will be added for the duration of the Quest.
Good Luck everybody !

Silly me I missed this last week, please can I join. My Quest is to keep with the plan I have settled in now regarding my exercise days. Two runs, one swim, one long walk and one big weights session. Then core work and a free extra day for anything I fancy. It seems to be working because I can wiggle stuf around to fit in.
So far so good for week 2 of our quest. No more soggy runs yet but aiming for first park run on Saturday- poor tired little legs permitting! Breathing is now so noisy (no excuses, no asthma or anything) it's becoming mildly embarrassing though!
I did a treadmill run on Monday during my lunch break at work. Just got back from a lovely 3.3 miles out and about with the hound, had to drag my behind out of bed this morning to do it but so glad I did!
Despite umpteen visitors and working too long to get everything done before my holiday next week(yay!) I have managed my 3 runs. Only getting a little faster last parkrun was 35:21.
Disaster for me. Have an injury on my knee (prob IT band). Seeing physio Friday so off for a walk later and might get some swimming in as well. Really missing the running and I never thought I'd say that!! π±
I didn't manage to get a run in before going away for a family do, and didn't take running kit with me (although those who know me will appreciate that's not actually an obstacle to running as I'll go out in more or less anything... but I had enough to be doing as it was) I did get one yoga session in whilst away, and generally survived the whole thing well (surviving seeing myself in the official photographs is another matter... clearly more toning and weight loss to go!)
Hoping that after some 'aggressive rest therapy' I'll be good to get out a couple of times this week.
I am doing well, I am increasing my mileage too much but that's because I'm on holiday at mums and I love running in the beach here.... I'm also on day 223 on my run streak so that is going well too β
Yes it's IT band on one side caused by a misaligned patella on the other which is the bigger concern. So it's strapped up, physio exercises to do, no running but I can do brisk walks. I'll be back running soon fingers crossed!!!!! π. I am just so tempted to try a little run but need self control and do as I have been told to do. π π
