I had the greatest privilege yesterday to run our Parkrun course with a team from Mallusk Harriers that were completing the last leg of their 24 in 24 challenge.
24in24 was a challenge to complete all 24 Parkruns in Northern Ireland in 24 hours for Action Cancer, including travelling between them by road.
It took them 24 hours 45 minutes.
When they arrived with us at Enniskillen they were very run weary and a lot had strapped up legs, were wobbly on their feet, but had such an air of determination and true grit. Plus a great support team who traveled with them.
I chatted to one of the runners for most of the way round the 5K and was humbled by his tales of the past 24 hours for him.
So 70+ miles in a day, but the fact that it was stop-start running is mindblowing, makes it soooooo much tougher.
Really enjoyed the experience, and my gremlins ran for the hills when they saw these fine runners. Humbling and intoxicating stuff.
