Aswell as running I try to do a fair bit of walking and on a Friday evening (if I'm lucky afternoon) I try to walk all the way home from work (about 9k) to wind down, get some exercise and put myself in weekend-mode. My route takes me through the Olympiapark in Munich and this evening the sun was shining, but it wasn't too warm and the place was just buzzing. Streams of people heading off to an open-air concert, some kind of rowing event on the lake, heaps of runners in all shapes and sizes (all of them seem faster than me, but I love watching the different styles - however, that's almost a subject for another post!), cyclists, kids, tourists and best of all WEEKEND. Anyway there were a group of young lads, about 8 or 9, running around on the path and one of them came up and said "high 5", so I gave him one and the next lad ran up with his hand up and cried "England!" At which I cheered in agreement (bear in mind we're in Germany). "You English?" The next one asked incredulously and when I said yes I had them all lining up and running round me for high 5s. It really made me laugh. Chuckled all the way home!
