Today I took part in the Edinburgh MoRun for the Movember Campaign.
As we got to the race site it was bucketing it down... Before the race even started I got drowned whilst ironically taking shelter in the baggage area as my two "friends" here pushed the roof of the tents up whilst I was standing underneath the gap... Charmers. Nothing like hypothermia to get your pace up...
The route was around Arthurs Seat in Edinburgh (an extinct volcano, so pretty hilly) and there was a 5k and 10k track (I did 5k). I'll admit now, I did little to no training for this (bad idea, don't recommend it...) and based on one treadmill run last week I figured I could probably manage it in under 40 minutes without killing myself, but figured I would just do it for fun and not stress out about times. About 10 minutes in I got a stitch (damn you breakfast banana!) and abandoned all hope of finishing in comfort, but still managed 33:30 with a smile on my face, so overall, it was a success!
So here's the after pic, complete with moustaches and bling! Now to commit to more regular running so next time doesn't feel so rough...
