Well, for once in my lif I took the route of sense and prudence. There was no way I was going to finish, or finsih in any kind of sensible time wthout exacerbating injury and causing longer term damage, so took teh decision not to start.

Was actually not too difficult a decision to make and, once made, did not feel any shame or regret or sadness about it. Had a leisurely morning, went for a nice long walk with children and dog. there will be many more races. Only have two feet and need both of them.

Quite right Rig . No point in being a hero and ending up a martyr. Your day will come!

Very sensible. There are lots of races and best not to do long term/permanent damage!! Sounds a lovely morning maybe better than running

If you can meet with triumph and disaster

And treat those two imposters just the same..........

A wise man to know the difference between pushing yourself to your limits and pushing yourself over the edge. I'm sure once you've sorted the problem you'll line yourself up for another opportunity.

What extremes we are driven to eh? Sounds like it was absolutely the right decision to make though and a wise choice. Hope you are back out there being extreme in your more usual manner, soon!.😀

Wise choice. Well done for making it, I think as we go through our running journey we learn to protect ourselves a bit for future runs but still it must of been hard. Sounds like you had a good day to make up for it.

Very wise Rig, plus youve saved yourself from being bludgeoned on the head with a blunt object from Mrs Rig ha ha :-D xxx

Well done Rig, and thanks for sharing. It's a tough call sometimes, we all need to know where to draw the line, most of us here have gone too far at one time or another. Good man xx

There are always more races - there will never be more feet!

Well done!

You do this running stuff in order to get (remain) healthy, not in order to cause yourself an injury. Sorry to hear it, but it was definitely the right decision.

Bravo!

Good decision and great approach. And these wise words from you are great for others.

I have a friend who completed it in a better time than his London! So for him at least it was a good day.

Take care Rig xx
