3 weeks ago I had horrendous stabbing pain in my calf at 3 mile mark and couldn't put foot down , couldnt spin all week ... Devasted .... Last week I thought it was ok , all good until 1 mile in ping same again .... I'm distraught got tough 10 miles next week then Longleat half .... Any suggestions so far I've been , stretching / x training / deep sports massage / new shoes ..... I'm desperate .... HELP ME plllleeeeaaaasse x

The only time I've had anything like that was when I was pregnant (not that I'm suggesting you are ). I think the consensus on that was that it was low salt levels; treatment was a packet of crisps. There again, I'm no expert.

Hi If the pain was right inside your calf muscle, it might not be a calf strain but a small tear in the muscle. I had that. If you Google 'running world calf heart attack' you'll find a link to an article about it in a running magazine. Hopefully it's not that, but worth checking. The magazine tells you how to recover and how to avoid it happening again.

Pain is the body's way to say "stop". Don't just ignore it. Go see a doctor or sports physio, far better to get it treated now than later.
Hope it turns out to be something simple to address.
