Anybody else started at turned 60
Just finished day 1week 3.I never thought I co... - Couch to 5K
Just finished day 1week 3.I never thought I could do it.Legs are so tired.Should I be doing this at 62 when Ive never run before.
I did and have recently completed the program. I'm 64 and just went slowly at first and made sure I did all the stretches. The legs become stronger as you progress and you will probably be surprised at how quickly your breathing improves. Have a good rest between your runs - I find swimming loosens the tight leg muscles
Hi Mazzero.I am about to start week 4 but really unsure what speed I should be running.I am running on a treadmill and going at about 6.7.When I look at other posts I think I am going too slow. What did you do?
I haven't achieved that milestone but I guess if you feel up to it then why not.
Perhaps consult your GP first if you are unsure and your legs are feeling it.
Good luck anyway and hope you enjoy the rest of the C25k program.
I started post 60 and completed it - twice in fact! It is certainly doable but don't expect to be doing 5k by week 6 like some of the young ones on here. Although you never know......
I was 66 when I started to do it - and never ever run before. As long as you keep it slow and steady to start with you will be absolutely fine! Listen to your body though and take a break if it complains too much.
I agree with Mazzero. The stretching is important. I used to do Strength and Flexibility on rest days when I first started and regret not keeping that up. The stretching helps tremendously in preventing painful muscles.
My mum has just started and she's also 62....she's on exactly the same point as you. She has decided to do each week twice as she's finding that is working for her. She's loving it, and I hope you do too... Good luck!!
I'm nearly 60 and have completed the program successfully and am now going for 10K! I started last year, so yes, of course you can do it!
