Hoping to get at least 50 tracks as answers to this question so there is an online playlist for C25kers.
A couple of suggestions - Start Me Up by the Rolling Stones and Long Walk Home by Springsteen for that 5 minute cool down walk at the end.

I have a couple that I really like, Personal Jesus by Depeche Mode has a great beat to run to it is my power song! I also like Kylie Minogue's Get outta my way this makes me want to dance along I love it. The rest of my run list is kinda humdrum really
Oh and Little Mix's Wings I love that one too
Run by Snow Patrol, it's on my running playlist
I have Rita Ora's album on my playlist and a couple of the songs on her album always give me a little boost when I'm starting to flag...Radioactive (when the chorus kicks in!) and How We Do
There are quite a few on my general playlist, mostly cheesy 80s rock, I'm afraid But my top five that get me pounding along are probably R.E.S.P.E.C.T (Aretha Franklin), Eye of the Tiger (Survivor), Don't Stop Me Now (Queen), Rebel Yell (Billy Idol) and Fun, Fun, Fun (Beach Boys). The last four are all around 160 bpm which is fast for me!
I love The Gossip - Move in the Right Direction. I imagine it's a song about moving on from a relationship break up (unless Beth Ditto is a big fan of C25K!) but the beat is great and some of the lyrics are so applicable to running:
"One step closer to feeling fine, getting better one day at a time
I'm moving forward with all of my might, I'm headed towards a new state of mind
So I'll hold back tears* (*on a bad run, I am at times, almost in tears!), move in the right direction
Face my fears, move in the right direction
I'm doing fine, one step closer every day at the time, I won't lose my mind, lose my mind"
Other than that, it is a mix of rock, '80s cheese, '90s dance, hip-hop, pop, indie, alternative etc. It really depends on my mood but Queen - Radio Gaga is usually in there, Muse (any Muse but the one they used in the Olympics is a current fave) and Starship - We Built This City.
Looking forward to picking up some music recommendations from this thread!
Riding on a Train by the Pasadenas and Here I Go Again by Archie Bell and the Drells. Both great beats to run too.
You should go to Rockmyrun.com It's a great site with hundreds of running playlists. You sign up for free and are allowed 1 free download/month. The tracks sort of meld into each other so there is no dead space in between songs. I love Rock my run!!
I've got bobby mcferrin 'Don't worry, be happy' for my warm up and 'I won't back down'Tom Petty for the last run song- a bit of a mix in the middle - 'wreckin bar' The Vaccines, some Vampire Weekend, Levellers ' River Flow' -Frank Turner 'Photosynthesis'
Song intro's are a pain tho as often they start off slow and build up - I will have a look at Rock my run
Couldn't have a playlist without 'Stronger' by Kelly Clarkson
Robert Tepper - There's no easy way out. From Rocky 4. A must for me!
But then again I have a massive obsession with the Rocky movies and have done since being about 8 years old!
Just a couple from Rihanna - Pon De Replay & (Please) Don't stop the music.
or for an early morning I love Chemical Brothers - Galvanise (push the button)
or Rizzle Kicks - Mamma do the hump, the lyrics are just so appropriate..
I think most of Samantha's tracks (B210K) are brilliant to run too (Toxic; Womanizer; Dirty Little Secret etc.) BUT my own home made includes "Keep on Running"; "Come on Eilleen" and just about anything by the Stones. Showing my age
7th son - I have jools holland & sting version. Very bouncy!
"My Body" by Young the Giant - lyrics are awesome & never fail to make me smile "My body tells me no, but I won't quit 'cos I want more"
Ellie Goulding is a runner herself and she has an EP called Run Into The Light which is a 30 minute non-stop mix of her songs arranged to compliment the natural dips and spurts you have when you run. I really enjoy running to it, I bought it as a 'well done' for myself when I completed week 5 and I was so chuffed when I eventually managed to run for the whole track!
My other favourite soundtrack for running is the 'I am the Doctor' songs from the Doctor Who soundtracks. Seems appropriate to me, they always do a lot of running...
Trouble is you then have to listen to Ellie Goulding for 30 mins. I'd rather have Laura's crap music lol
To each their own. To be honest, I'm normally more into rock music than Ellie's style of music but for some reason I really quite like her. I'm not a big fan of remixes so I wouldn't listen to her running track if I wasn't running, but when I am it really works for me.
What do you like running to if it isn't the podcast?
Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner by Iron Maiden
