Has anyone had trouble with their heart rate and thinks it may be related to having CMT? If so what type of heart problem are you experiencing?

CMT and Heart Problems
Hi 123lainie
My heart rate is quite low - resting is usually hoovering around 58 to 60. However, I think mine is more related to having any underactive thyroid (bpm was 54 before that was discovered).
I have alot of heart problems. My heart rate is around 44. I have sick sinus syndrome, cardiomyopathy, mitral valve prolapse, congestive heart failure and chronic afib. But I have 3 abnormal genes. So I have 2e and 2n . The third gene affects the heart and lungs. I also have uranium poisoning and prescription drug poisoning. Heart issues started as baby. Didn't get diagnosis for cmt until 55yrs old.
Good morning, It is rare for someone with CMT to heart problem, Please contact your GP and request an appointment, not all illnesses are connected to CMT.
I'm a male 69 with type 1a. My resting heart rate is mid 40s and can drop below 40 when sleeping. I don't have a thyroid issue but do have a mild heart murmur and other minor heart anomalies. That said, my GP and cardiologist are relaxed about it as I'm relatively fit for my age. Walking long distances isn't that easy now, but I cycle on average at least 100 miles per week, throughout the year, and never get chest pains or seriously out of breath even on very steep (20%+) hills.
Yes my heart was racing and also changing speed, Arrhythmias, anyway they did tests and found my heart itself was perfect, not a problem, they decided the nerve to it or the phrenic nerve was affecting the rate, so put me on half a beta blocker tablet and it's been under control since.. I do have my Phrenic nerve affected from CMT so am on a Vpap for that, I have type 1A
I had arrhythmias with my heart, when they did all the checks they said my heart was in excellent condition, so they assumed it was CMT, anyway I am on a beta Blocker to stop the arrhythmias which were mainly super fast but occasionally very slow (rarer for me), also just a heads up, if you do get fast heart beats, cough a couple of times as that can often stop it.
