Warm feet needed.
Hello to Ulrich......
Last winter (rainy/wet) I went to my nearest Go Outdoor which is a UK supermarket style store that sells all types of external clothing, foot-wear etc, to the Uk Public:
They stock a fair range of boot(s) styles, however, your choice can be further be restricted if you want "Velcro-Touch n' Go, fastenings 0(Yes, Velcro is an excellent choice):
Best of Health....... John (Glasgow)......
Thanks John, They sell most things British here, I'll google.
Google Celtic boots - they are made in Cornwall and are excellent quality sheepskin boots, they make a range called Celt with are perfect for indoors as well.
Thank you, I'll take a look.
I invested in a pair of light weight Scarpa leather boots with vibram soles also from Go Outdoors and they suit me nicely. I have type 1a.
I wear 8 hole Dr martens the rest of the time.
Thanks Alan, I'll look at them.
My podiatrist told me that I can no longer buy, 'off the shelf,' shoes/boots with such deformed pes cavus feet. This is the catalogue that I use. You can take out the insoles and put your own, special ones into them. They have mens boots in their catalogue. If you have questions, they will help. widerfitshoes.co.uk/pp+mens...
Thank Lou, I'll take a look.
I have worn Vasque boots for 22 years with MS. They have been great 👍 Your can take a auto shade for windshield and cut to match insol of shoe and put reflective side towards foot and it helps to keep heat in shoe👍⛄️❄️😉 Ken
Thanks Ken, I'm still looking, I'll check them out, Happy new year.
My husband and son work outdoors year round when winter hits here in Canada we pull out the alpaca socks they never complain of cold feet when wearing them
Thanks for you're reply, I've never heard about alpaca socks, do your husband and son have CMT ?
No I have CMT no signs of it with son yet hopefully he and my girls don't have it . Drs here have no clue about it I come across the odd one that does but still they know very little I just live with it as I have for 35 years or more I do put on alpaca wool socks as well throughout the year they are great they do not make you it like normal wool does
Where are you ? doctors here in the USA are the same, they say "I'll have to google that" I would have thought there was enough of us for word to get around the medical establishment :))
Canada they don't even care to follow up or genetic testing I have never been told which type we ( siblings)have but don't really care as I've lived with it for so long and there is nothing they can do about it anyways
One thing I found out, Alpaca wool doesn't keep my feet warm
Hi Ulrich,
I have no idea if this might work for you . Probably totally unsuitable, especially if you need to look presentable. I used to wear big wellies with thick socks inside. 2 pairs of less-thick might be even better. Depends on whether you wear AFOs, and can even get into wellies. My last ones were wide yellow ones with extra-non-slip soles (designed for seamen on wet decks) at least 2 sizes too big. In the many years when I hadn't heard of CMT, AFOs etc., I always wore wellies for walks, as my ankles felt "safer". Didn't stop me falling but maybe I fell less often. I have never had sweaty feet, though
Similarly, woolly gloves worn with large rubber gloves over the top were my preferred hand-wear for snowman construction.
I suspect nothing except hot water bottles will keep your feet warm if you aren't walking a fair amount though, and some of us can't any more.
My feet are on a hot water bottle right now The only thing that really worked was the old lightweight snow boots or moon boots with the polystyrene inners but yes they look a bit silly down the pub Roll on summer. Thanks Amanita.
Well I dunno - you could start a trend....
