So want to loose weight

So want to loose weight but not being all that mobile is a struggle. Especially with meds that can increase your weight, so frustrating. Any tips or advice.

My sister-in-law is overweight and wants to lose weight but has mobility issues. She also wants to gain more muscle strength. Her doctor showed her how to do some exercises while sitting on a chair or edge of the bed. She showed me, the last time we visited, and I did them with her. You would be surprised how much they worked the muscles and I know they did because those muscles were sore the next morning! They were not strenuous at all.

Google exercises that you can do in a chair or bed, maybe you can find some.

With neuromuscular conditions I've been advised to avoid crash diets but I have high protein and low carbohydrate. Replace rice or potato with cauliflower rice. I manage my weight more with diet and then try and swim once a week. I also do the 7 minute workout but there are lots of elements I can to but can sit and do some. Or as Morllyn said go on YouTube and search sitting exercises and loads come up. Maybe just check with your Physio first. Good luck!

Hi Bris09

Do you live in Bristol UK or Brisbane Australia?

I live in Brisbane Australia and it would be gr8 to know someone on this site with CMT in a friendship way.

I am overweight and would love to be skinny

Poor mobility is a problem

No way I could do the 7 minute workout. That's the one with jumping jacks isn't it? Balance is my problem as it's very limited. If you can do it thats gr8. Any advice?

I'm in Bristol although currently away for a month in the states which is a great escape (but not helping the dirt!). I can no way do jumping jacks! Have have no muscle left in my feet at all but I lean on something and punch the air instead (find I have to improvise a lot with exercise plans!). I can't do the squats eaither, but will do extra sit ups or something, it's just about setting the time more than following the exact plan for me. Good luck! X

Hi I have an exercise bike at home which I do thirty minutes every day...like you I don't get much out side exercise due to the CMT but with the exercise bike the weight is off your lower regions which is what's really needed I find it really suits me and does help with weight loss also it's good for us to keep the joints mobile.
