I have need to find sensitive markers for mon... - CLL Support
I have need to find sensitive markers for monitoring CLL therapy.
Your question makes no sense...try again...perhaps some details would help?
Jerry,
Are you able to provide some more detail so you can get a more helpful answer? Are you talking about chemotherapy and if so, which, or is it some other therapy you're considering? Were you looking for information on which components of the standard blood tests are the better indicators for how effective a chosen therapy is performing?
If you are considering some form of complementary or alternative medicine, then you owe it to yourself to involve your conventional medical team in what you are considering. That way they can tell you if your potential therapy is contraindicated (perhaps not from your CLL but from some other medical condition) and if you go ahead with it, keep an eye out for changes and also advise you if you need to stop the therapy if your condition changes due to illness, conventional treatment, etc.
I'm still on W & W, which I've found somewhat stressful - I prefer to be in control rather than just waiting... So I've tried some supplements to slow progression with the full knowledge of my GP and haematologist. I had to reduce the dose I was taking because a couple of my liver function tests shot out of the normal range - and thankfully recovered. You don't want to mess with your liver or kidneys - they need to be as healthy as possible to keep you healthy - particularly if you eventually need chemotherapy. (I think what I've chosen has helped me - there's some scientific evidence it does help some of those with CLL, but it took at least 4 months before I saw any change that could possibly be attributed to my 'therapy'.)
Hope this helps,
Neil
