hi, I don’t know for sure but strongly assume if you’re a resident of the UK, you must register with a Dr at a GP surgery. The NHS is obligated to provide treatment at the point of need….so you will be looked after fully and properly and in relation to what you’ve received in Germany. Best wishes

I started receiving my state pension in the UK last June. In your shoes, I would contact the Dept for Work & Pensions (DWP) to find out what you need to do well in advance, in case it takes a few months.

If you start with the gov.uk website, you can go from there and confirm that you have accrued enough National Insurance credits, or if you need to top up.

I don't think it will be as simple as you seem to be expecting, especially with the world being as unstable as it is. I hope I'm wrong.

Good luck!

Did they offer you the ability to "buy" additional years as voluntary National Insurance (NI) contributions, about £800/year? We can normally buy the last 6 years using voluntary NI contributions, I bought 4, my brother only needed a few weeks to fill an incomplete year. Each year of fully paid up NI contributions adds about £6/week to the state pension making purchase of a year's NI worth £312/year, about 39% of the NI contribution, payback in under 3 years. It may not be allowed for years that you have been out of the country,

I can't decide if it's the worlds best investment or a gamble. No other risk free investment has similar returns but to win you bet you are going live to 70.

Not what you're looking for?
