"Natural hack" to boost immune system

Hello everyone,

I've gotten such helpful answers in this group, I want to add my "hack" in case it helps someone.

So I've a tendency to mouth infections (& colds, even hangnail infections!) that I think is typical of CLL.

One way I found to stop them in their tracks was/is about 5 pieces of fresh fruit a day. Not sure how I came up with this—maybe remembering a diet in the 1970s that required eating 3 pieces of fruit, which cleared up my acne! Improvement in my mouth was dramatic (and believe me, getting huge sores there is not fun). Especially effective fruits are citrus & kiwi. Red tart cherries is another winner—canned (Oregon brand), dried, & even powdered.

Then I stumbled onto the juice of 4 limes in 4 glasses of water per day. VERY effective and often more convenient than pieces of fruit. A friend where I live in Mexico says he eats 3 limes a day & restaurant tables sometimes have a bowl of cut limes to squeeze on food such as soup, tacos, etc. He said he never gets colds & only got a mild case of Covid. I haven't had any colds either since I started with limes months ago.

Downsides: a friend told me he couldn't do the lime juice in water because it irritated his gastritis. And I did read that vegans have bad teeth because of eating so much (acidic) fruit. Of course, pure lime juice would be terrible for tooth enamel. Anyway, for both stomach and teeth, I suggest putting the juice in more water.

If any of you try this, I'd like to know if it works for you.

Diabetics be careful with eating too much fruit. D E K A are fat soluble vitamins. Eating just the fruit without any fat going along prevents absorbing them. Eating fruits multiple times a day without brushing teeth right after can lead to tooth decay thanks to sugar fermenting in the mouth. Drinking watered down lime juice should not be a problem. It could even be somewhat helpful for people on a high carb diet. What I do from time to time is I take a sip of water, squeeze some concentrated lime juice into my mouth, swallow it straight away together with the sipped water trying to avoid the mix touching my teeth, then drink more water and swirl it around in the mouth in order to wash down any remaining lime taste. A bit of extra vitamin C can't hurt.

👋 Interesting. I've never even tasted a lime 🤔. Couldn't hurt to try. I've noticed kiwi gives me a big boost when I'm feeling like some germ might be brewing. Thanks for the tip, LadyLuckyLuna. And to LeoPa for reminding us to watch out for our oral health.
