Hi Newdawn
My name I use is Corkrissa , I’m female 79 dx with cll after having breast cancer surgery in 2010 age 66. I’m on imbruvica since 2017 numbers are good have a hematologist/oncologist , dr Sakr.
I didn’t know how to ask a question. I have followed Healthunlocked since dx. I am in awe of the knowledge you and AussieNeil and others about CLl. I don’t understand a lot of the clinical terms but enjoy reading answers to many questions. Hoping you or others can help me with a problem I’m having
I was recently hospitalized in June for pneumonia after 5 weeks of being sick at home , 2 trips to er and sent home. I noticed I have vertical lines on a few of my fingernails and researched for answers , only to read this is nail psoriasis. I have not been dx with this so don’t understand what’s happening. my nails won’t grow they split, have double layers on a couple, soft, and ragged edges that forces me to carry a nail file. I would get cuts on sides of fingers that would hurt had to put liquid bandage on. I use gloves when ever do dishes or cleaning., Now those problems have subsided , I have lotion in literally every room in the house.. I tried so many different nail products, oils , and lotions galore . I took collagen but discontinued didn’t help I take 2 Biotin 5,000 mcg daily. Don’t think covid and the disinfectants used has helped. I had acrylic nails for 20 yrs , nails looked great but was told by my dr it wasn’t a good idea to continue because of the chance of getting a ln infection. Was thinking to have a very thin layer of acrylic for a while but I think it may do more damage. My question is : is this due to CLL meds or ?? This isn’t vanity …. It HURTS . I’m very Blessed My CLL numbers are under control feel good my energy is good. I Help to care for my beautiful 2yr old great grandson, Joshua, came at a sad time for my family. We lost my husband , Alex , of 58 yrs. Joshua has brought many happy times to this Gram.
hope someone has an answer for me
Love and Blessings to all of you. Live life to the fullest. Make sure you tell the people in your life you love them

Hi Anna,
I’m sorry to hear that the problem with your nails continues because you’ve posted 5 times previously on the subject and had a range of advice and shared experiences. I can appreciate it must be a very sore, distressing symptom but I’d urge you not to venture into acrylic nails etc at the moment. Acrylics destroyed my nails and made them paper thin!
I’m concerned your post will be lost in the middle of this non related post. The best idea would be to post again maybe using the details you’ve already given. To make a new post, you’ll see ‘Write’ in a blue box at the top right hand side of this page with a little pen next to it. Just click on that.
I’ve no personal experience of this problem even when I was on Ibrutinib but it’s clear many others have and may be able to advise you.
I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband but delighted to know your great grandson is giving you so much pleasure.
Unfortunately I’m not able to move your response to make a new post but I’d urge you to do that.
Regards,
Newdawn
