Since I have taken the 200mg Venetoclax my vision become blurry.
Is this something to worry about?
I also started to have feelings of nausea since I have been on the 200mg.
Tomorrow I will start with the 400mg and I am not sure what this will do
to my body.
I still have the red spotty face since the taking of the 50mg.....
I am interessted to hear others experience.....
It seems it is a side effect of the drug.

I had a lot of side effects, they did calm down with time, some stayed for the whole duration of treatment. It is definitely advisable to discuss this with your doctor.

My sight suddenly became worryingly blurry earlier this year so I visited an optometrist.
After a thorough check-up, the optometrist advised that my eyes were very dry and that all I needed to do was to use preservative-free lubricating eye drops drops several times a day and the blurriness would soon disappear. I found this hard to believe but I followed his advice. A few weeks later my sight improved just as quickly as it had become blurry!
I now only use the drops once per day when I remember, and whenever my eyes feel drier than usual. Apparently air conditioning and prolonged computer use can cause dry eyes. The condition is very common, particularly as we age.
Here’s hoping that the blurriness you are experiencing can be fixed as easily as mine was.
Ask your Doc for a antinausea medicine. I have needed it daily since ramp up to 400mg.No unusual blurred vision other than normal...

I don't know when you take your Venclexta but I found right after dinner is best for me. I have zero nausea. Many other have said the same.
Hi, I didn't have your vision issue, but did have frequent nausea. The anti nausea meds didn't work for me. Eventually, using suggestions from this forum i tried different times and food and improved a lot when taking V with my evening meal. I've only had a few instances of nausea since. Best wishes L
You haven't said whether you've had your eyes checked by an optician, or if you've let your haematology team know. If not please do get your eyes checked. I have a rare macular problem (leaking microaneurysms) which started before I began retreatment with venetoclax but is ongoing. Ophthalmologist blamed it on the cocktail of drugs I've had for CLL but it's all a bit vague. It's now being controlled by periodic steroid implants which are helping to protect my vision.
There are other commoner causes of blurred vision, as well as maybe being due to venetoclax. Some could possibly require treatment.
My experiences have taught me how precious sight is, and not to delay when anything changes.

I am just back from the hospital....picking up my V 400mg and having my weekly blood test done. The Chemo Nurse told me that this is a side effect from the V. and not to worry much about my vision until after the 400mg has settled in me.
I also take now regularly the anti sickness medication.
So hopefully it will be settled soon.

I am on Venetoclax for about a year now. I had experience with the medication in a trial before it was approved in combination with Ibrutinib 5 years ago. Worked well and is working well on my CLL. However, the side effects you mentioned I have experienced. Nausea does occur often. I find if I take the medication an hour to two before bed with a piece of toast I’m usually good. My doctors also gave me a prescription of prochlorperazine (for nausea). I only need this very occasionally.
I do experience auras, chevron type of obstructed blurring of my vision on occasion. Lasts about 1/2 an hour to hour. Dr. Has not been able to attribute this to the medication because I had this occur before in my history but not as frequently as now.
I have also found a regiment of Greek yogurt with some walnuts at breakfast has eliminated digestive and diarrhea problems.

Hi there!! A few things. I definately had nausea and the best thing I was recommended was to take it at night vs. day. So I would take the dose a few hrs before bed and that worked! You would ease into that by 3 or 4 hrs at a time so if you are taking at 10 am now go to 330 pm and then 730 pm etc. Also of course a bit of carb with it helps too . As for the blurry vision yup I had that along with floaters / vitreous detachment - they say its unrelated but I don't think so. Systane is a great artificial tear to use for the blurry stuff and of course always tell your docs. DO NOT USE VISINE. Very bad for your eyes.
Venetoclax should be taken with (after) a meal. The meal used for uptake studies and considered to result in optimum uptake (100%) was 512Kcal "low fat". A larger 753Kcal meal results in uptake increase to 133%, this is considered acceptable. These "meals" correspond to a breakfast of cereal with milk and one or two slices of toast with butter and jam (or other spread, not marmalade). Uptake on an empty stomach is 30% of optimum, may as well throw it away. One slice of toast is about 170-200Kcal, 53-57% of optimum dose.
Ignore the "user" on graph, that was me having an egg mayo sandwich and an apple as the meal (440Kcal) with my first 50mg tablet.
I was on V for two years - I never had eye problems but I had the nausea - I ended up only taking 300 mgs which worked fine for me - I have been in remission for almost three years
