Spirulina

I’m going to try the supplement Spiulina. I’ve read it helps the immune system, has antioxidants, and possibly has cancer fighting properties. I read it may increase NK cells specifically in regard to the immune system. Has anyone tried this supplement or think it might be a bad idea for some reason?

Also, I found these Memorial Sloan Kettering & Cleveland Clinic pages useful. Good to see such well regarded institutions providing credible guidance for patents in these matters.

This is from the cleveland clinic article you linked to:

For all its promising effects, spirulina may not be a good choice for everyone, Czerwony cautions. You should talk with a healthcare provider, like your general practitioner or a nutritionist, before taking spirulina. That’s because there are some people who should avoid spirulina or at least be wary of it. That includes people who: Are pregnant or breastfeeding (chestfeeding). Have a compromised immune system. Have diabetes. Have a blood disorder.

You might want to run it by your doc first, spirulina might be contraindicated for those with blood disorders or compromised immune systems. Good luck if you try it, I hope it works for you.

Good point. I thought they had warned against auto immune conditions only.

I will try natural supplements before big phrama meds. I loved my Spirulina but my B12 level was too high & it was easy to stop the tea & supplement instead of the multivitamin. But I never checked with anyone🤦🏽‍♀️

be careful with spirulina, do your research on the specific producers of them. There have been a lot of spirulina grown with a toxic chemicals, one of them has been tied to lou gehrigs disease or ALS. Do some research on this, there’s tons of articles that talk about this that you can google.

Bet that ConsumerLabs, which is a subscription service (not expensive) that checks out various brands of things, including for heavy metals, etc. , would have a write up on spirulina. Been warned away from many things on there. Just checked. Can't copy and paste from them but a lot of discussion. Two spirulinas they rate as "avoid" (of the only 4-5 ones they reviewed) were Pure Hawaiian and Swanson.

As long as your platelet count is good, try acupuncture to help with your immune system. Its also a great help with side effects.

Acupuncture is wonderful!

I have been using Kachava Superfood every morning to keep my immune system strong and to make sure I get enough protein and Calcium. Check out the website: Kachava.com to see if this would be helpful to you. Take care!

My husband and I have been taking that supplement for over 2 years and some others. He's been in remission for that same length of time. Apple Cider Vinegar is good for gut health.

Hi Yes I combined Spirulina andChlorella together, plugged my nose and down it went followed by a tall glass of water every day for over 8 years It helps balance body PH levels, Removes heavy metals and contains numerous enzymes vitamins and minerals it also stimulates the production of red blood cells It was suggested by my Naturopathic doctor along with MUCH more I honestly believe everything I did NOT ONLY stalled off treatment but was the reason I felt fantastic during watch and wait! I only started my Ibrutinib/Venetoclax trial because of big nodes So blessed to be in a great remission Catnap7 🐈🐈

I have worked in the supplement industry for years and I usually recommend that if someone decides to take spirulina, they start out with a very small dose because of the detoxing effects on the body and purchase a good, clean organic product because spirulina can absorb heavy metals and be contaminated.
