HOW TO TREAT DIARRHEA WHEN ON ACALABRUTINIB?
Have you tried Florastor or Culturelle, daily probiotic supplements available over the counter at local pharmacies (at least in Canada)? One or the other frequently goes on sale at Costco.
I am on Acalabrutinib also and while it does not cause diarrhea, I use one of these supplements when I get the runs taking antibiotics. They both work very well.
Good luck!!
charcoal tablets?
I would ask your consultant. I was prescribed diarrhoea tablets when I started treatment with Acalabrutinib. I was told not to use them without checking with my CNS. I haven't needed them and still have quite a stock. I also take Aciclovir and Co Trimoxazole which I understand can cause the runs. I haven't had a problem that way but certainly 'go' more than I did before treatment. Not a nice subject but because I was sometimes constipated, I had prunes for breakfast most days and noticed my poo was very dark. This I just put down to the prunes but now understand that it could have been blood loss which was causing me to be anaemic.
My husband had the same problem on acala and eventually had to get off of it bc he also has ulcerative colitis, but initially, just good old Imodium provided some relief. I would try Culturelle first. Itโs a great drug. Hope you can stay on it.
When I started Acalabrutinib I had about a week of diarrhoea and then it cleared, since then, if anything Iโve been constipated. I eat fruit for breakfast and lots of veggies in the evening and I think the fibre helps? Good luck.
MANY THNKS to all of you generous peeps who answered on this almost taboo subject... ๐๐. For now, I got a response from my oncologist. He said to try Imodium... I did last night. So far so good1 ๐๐ผ๐ค
Imodium is my go to, Iโm on ibrutinib and donโt have diarrhea as a side affect but use it when needed.

Thank you. One question, after taking Imodium, do you sometimes have the opposite problem? ๐ค๐
My husband has CLL and he's currently on a clinical trial drug similar to Venetoclax. One of his earliest and most bothersome symptoms was also diarrhea. He did use some Imodium at first but then his study doctor gave him a prescription for Welchol, which is a powder that you mix and drink. He takes that every morning right before he takes his pills and it has been a Godsend. You may want to ask your provider about their thoughts on it. Good luck!
Thank you for that tip!
