Dr. Mato has been my doctor for the past 3 years and recently left Sloan Kettering. Does anyone know where he's headed?

Thank you.

His web site now says Hackensack Medical Center. Were you not informed by Sloan ?

It is still a secret, probably due to contractual obligations. He was my Dr at Penn Medicine for 3 years then he went to MSK, now he has been my Doc at MSK for 3 years since I moved up there. Geez, I hope it's not me.

New Jersey has become a "wholly owned subsidiary" of Hackensack Meridian Health -- which entity is preparing to try to buy New York City -- for 10 cents on the dollar. We live in strange times. :)

Mystic75 -

Based on:

cinj.org/sites/cinj/files/d...

I think he was the CLL Program Director at John Theurer a decade or so ago. Did he go back to them?

I was seeing Dr. Matasar from MSK and found out he left and went to Rutger’s Cancer Institute. I am heartbroken 💔

Sorry your doctor left, but this sounds like a win for Rutgers CINJ which is has been expanding. Not sure where you are located, but CINJ is one block from the New Brunswick train station if you are interested in continuing your care under Dr. Matasar. CINJ is an exceptional cancer center.

I’m on a clinical trial with MSK right now. I have 1 more year on this trial. Believe me, if I could go to him I would…..he is an exceptional Oncologist. I live in Rockland County NY so it would be a 45 minute drive which is not bad. But, I’m only 3 minutes away from the MSK in Montvale!

Thank you all for your input. I did see the Hackensack listing but think he may have been there before Penn and then MSK. I didn't see his name on Hackensack's website but may call there just to confirm. Appreciate you all!

Yes Dr Mato did work at Hackensack before Penn and MSK. Could he be going back there? Could be an old listing.

Interested to know this info. He has been my doc since I was diagnosed and was shocked at the letter I received. I traveled from Virginia to NJ just to see him.

He last updated his NY state license profile in October 2022, you can keep checking to see if it changes. Unless things have changed a lot in the past few years, medical practitioners are required to list their main work address. Changes need to be done in X amount of time, usually a few months.

He ended up in Ithaca, NY - Cayuga Cancer Center. Very odd. And his bio doesn't even mention CLL.
