CLL Support is marking Blood Cancer Awareness Month in September with an initiative that underpins our “You Can Live Well with CLL” message. This is not simply a convenient phrase that rhymes but seeks to demonstrate and empower our members to endeavour to make the best of their diagnosis, treatment regimes and remission periods. As patients we know all too well the challenges that we face in our daily lives and we are not seeking to downplay these. We want to look positively at how we can employ coping strategies which can lessen the burden and to that end we sought input from across our membership on how ‘You Can Live Well with CLL’.. We asked our members how they have coped with a diagnosis of CLL, and any tips they may have to help others. We were blown away with your response, and it certainly demonstrates a wide variety of activities that you undertake whilst dealing with your situation. Each week during September we will release a short video containing patient stories showcasing; Gardening, Walking, Cooking, Hobbies, Travel stories, Running, Motorbiking, Music, Cycling, Yoga and Art to name just a few. We hope that your inventiveness and ingenuity will act as inspiration to others and encourage us all to try to ‘Live Well with CLL’. Watch out for them!
Of course, we also totally understand that some of us may find an initiative like this a little too challenging, and you may not be in a position to emulate the activities mentioned. This is understandable and the Support Act section of our website may be able to assist in accepting your current status and provide you with guidance and techniques that may help.
