Latest BC CDC no longer recommends Evusheld
Oh dear that isn’t going to help our cause here in the UK. We have been pinning our hopes on ‘getting back to normal’ on Evusheld for so long now that any news that it isn’t as effective as we hoped is a huge disappointment.
Hi like Camper2 I agree this is a huge disappointment for yourselves and us here in the U.K. who are immunocompromised. It was interesting to read that clinicians have the right to prescribe where they think necessary although they are not encouraged to do so.
I wonder if clinicians in the U.K. have those freedoms? Anyone know the answer?Ann
The reality is that the NHS is the monopoly buyer of this kind of medicine in the UK. AZ is not about take tiny orders from the private health sector. So, whatever UK doctors feel about Evusheld, their hands are tied.
Thanks for posting.
Please note that the crucially important and lengthy Evidence Summary will not be located via the link on page 1. It is in fact on pages 2 to 6.
It is a pretty firm dismissal of the evidence for Evusheld in the current phase of the pandemic, which is dominated by variants omicron BA.4 and BA.5. One can argue the toss over one or two points where the BC CTC has painted the picture too dark a shade, but at least they have put their cards on the table for all to see...
...In stark contrast to the behaviour of the UK government, which has been playing the artful dodger with AZD7442/ Evusheld for well over a year.
