I had my three monthly telephone consultation this morning. As usual I worried myself silly yesterday and until the call came this morning. More so because of the ongoing worry about the possible AFIB and the medication I had been taking for the last six weeks.
So the call came, my wonderful consultant was happy with my progress. My white cells are now 12 (she said they are considered normal) and my Heamaglobin is 127
I then asked her advice about the AFIB and the Apixaban. I also asked if she could arrange a cardiologist appointment and a 24 hour monitoring tape. She said she had already made the request after I told her of my concerns, six weeks ago, shortly after my accident. She agreed that I shouldn't have been given new drugs without seeing a cardiologist or having further tests. AFIB was diagnosed when I was in deep shock and pumped full of morphine.
Dr Munro (my consultant) said to continue with the Apixaban since it was ok with Acalabrutinib until after I have seen the cardiologist and then she will review the situation.
I said I was quite happy to take anything which was necessary but didn't want to take unnecessary drugs.
I now feel much better in my mind and I am more relaxed. I am sure that I will have my first good night's sleep for six weeks tonight.
In addition the nurse who has been looking after my scalded leg has today decided to leave all the dressings off to allow the superficial wound to heal.
What an excellent day! In addition got all my washing dry outside and all ironed 🤣🤣

What good news! Well done. And no better feeling getting the washing dried outside and ironed and put away within the day. Hope you get a good nights sleep!
Also glad to hear your burn is healing. My daughter was burned on her ankle when she was 19 months old. She didn’t need surgery but it left a scar. Now as an adult, I can barely see it.
Hi there! I'm on O+V treatment at the moment and also have AFib! Mine comes and goes but I've been stuck with it for 4 weeks now, basically since I started treatment. I've been on Apixaban for 6 and a half years without any issues so not really a problem for me. Glad the leg is getting better x
Hi Alice, that’s great news, glad you are doing well. As you know we started this journey on acalabrutinib at the same time, despite my cardiac issues I too seem to be doing well on this medication, my platelets are now normal after being very low and my consultant said he is happy not to see me for another 4 months and all is going well. Ps I hate ironing though. Dave xx
I don't mind ironing so long as I do it as soon as the washing is dry. If I leave it, it becomes of a chore. Yesterday I ironed outside in the sunshine so was much nicer. x
Just had my bloods back from appointment last Monday. WCC now 12.8 x109/L was 205, platelets 136 were 71, neutrophils now 4.2 Lymphs 7.9. I think it looks good consultant seems happy. Dave xx
