T Cell Experimental Trials 2010 re CLL

Hi All, I have just read an article by Dr Michael Moses, in, Saturday's Dail Mail, re the above trials. It invlolved 3 CLL patients, who had their, T Cell's removed, then, genetically engieerd them to fight cancer. They were then, infused back into the patients body.

Two out of three of them, found that their cancer had vanished. They were tested 10 years after the treatment, by scientist's, who discovered that the genetically modified T Cells, were still in the patients blood, and ready to deal, if the cancer cells, were to re-emerge.

One of the patient's, was a Doug Olson, who is now healthy enough to have completed, 6 half marathon's. Does anyone know about these trials, and their apparent success, in curing CLL. I was led to belkeve, when I was diagnosed that there was, 'No Cure'.

Can anyone, also, confirm, this information, and give us all, an update, as to the present position, regarding this issue. I am seeing my Haemo, in March and will ask the same question, and the results of this trial, 10 year's on. It sounds very encouraging, and it may be well known, as to the results, but not by me, I'm afraid. All the very best to everyone. Ron.

I think that was the article. If you scroll back a week or so ago or use the search feature you can find more on the article. Maybe someone else can copy that link. I’m useless with technology 😁.

Hi Ron,

CAR-T and sometimes CAR-NK trials are being done in Australia, the UK and the USA and perhaps elsewhere. The treatment is currently very expensive and still being improved, so you'll likely only qualify if you are exhausting treatment options.
