Has anyone had or planning to have a 2nd Booster

Could a 2nd Booster cause any problems for those of us with CLL or could it possible help us to gain more protection from Covid?

I also have a question re: Covid Arm that someone mentioned. Would swelling and pain at the injection site actually indicate a more robust response to the vaccine?

Unfortunately, swelling and pain at the injection site is due to our innate immune system (neutrophils, macrophages, etc), not our lymphocyte based adaptive immune system. It's our B-lymphocytes that (hopefully) produce antibodies to (again hopefully) prevent or at least reduce the severity of a COVID-19 infection and our T-lymphocytes that we hope will destroy any virus infected body cells.

Well thanks for the reply, however I am new to this and don't understand your reply, but I take it to mean that the answer to my question is NO - Covid Arm does not mean a robust response to the vaccine

Sorry. I've now expanded my 'Unfortunately No' answer to the second part of your question.

Our immune systems are incredibly complex, with pandemic related studies showing how much we still have to learn. Please take the time to learn more about your immune system by exploring what you can of this post:

Per the title, the knowledge therein could save your life.

Thank you for your response and the articles about the immune system. I have much to learn about having CLL

The simple answer to the first question is that nobody knows, and to the second question is that there is no connection.

I had the Pfizer booster and a flu shot 10 days later. This had to be done before I was to start takin g Acalabrutinib. I was told by my hema/oncol nurse that blood counts have to be at a certain level in order to get the vaccine. Since Acalabrutinib can cause certain counts to drop, it was advised to get the vaccines before starting treatment.

Hi Lindann. Do you mean 2nd booster as the 4th vaccine? My story is that I received the 2 Pfizer vaccines in Feb and March. I did not form any antibodies to Covid per lab test. So in May I tried a J&J with the thinking of a vaccine other than mRNA would work better, maybe. It did not, still no antibodies for spike Covid. This month, I got another booster for my 4th try. My reaction to the vaccine was different this time. With the first three, I had not reaction to the vaccines other then a sore arm. This last vaccine, I had a headache, was achy and had chills with no fever. I will not get tested for antibodies until next month but a little hopeful since I reacted somewhat to the 4th.
