Just on the ITV news, UK gov has secured enough antibody treatments to supply hospitals around the UK. Another step forward, specific talk of immuno compromised welcome too.

That sounds great. I really hope that all of us will be reassured by our doctors soon. It's so frustrating to know this can help us and not being able to get hold of it. Thanks for posting.

Thank you for this information. Are these prophylaxis or to be used if we get covid?Cheers

I would say it's for treatment, but just a hunch from the way it was presented. It's an expensive drug and best benefit probably from early use after infection.

news.sky.com/story/covid-19... says hospital treatment for those who've not developed adequate antibodies.

I read this as we will get antibody tests to see if we have produced any and those who haven’t will get the monoclonal antibody infusions. We should hear details from our specialists.Ann

"The Department of Health said clinicians will soon receive guidance so they can start prescribing the treatment." My GP has yet to receive any information about the 3rd vaccination for immunocompromised which was in the media with great fanfare over 2 weeks ago!

I'm afraid I think this announcement will also take a long time to filter through to the people who actually do the work in hospitals. Politicians love the headlines but don't provide the materials for the people on the ground who want to the best job.

Hi! At my hospital check up yesterday I was asked whether I would like to be considered for antibody injections after booster shot as so far no antibodies to speak of. Sounds positive.

Sounds like perhaps (at least your hospital) is considering giving for protection as opposed to as treatment after pos covid test. Good news!

Is that in the UK?

It wasn't reported to be offered as prophylaxis in the UK, just for treatment of persons with no antibodies. I understand there are shortages due to supply in the US (a different mAB) where it is given more freely. It is expensive, but my hunch is its more likely to be restricted because of supply.

Think London is way ahead of Somerset as of yet.. No one has even heard of 3rd jab in 1st cycle here sadly
