I have a Google Scholar alert running which tells me what reserch is being published so I could pick out relevant items and post them.

Hi, vaccines in CLL has been a hot topic in the past few months and there have been several more recent posts. Blood Cancer UK has a good summary of research to date, see section Leukaemia and covid vaccine efficacy in bloodcancer.org.uk/support-... I think all the CLL studies they mention have been aired here.

Sadly Blood Cancer UK has no way to post findings as far as I can see. And the Macmillan Community Team decided to remove two of my postings referencing peer-reviewed publications as they "haven’t been able to verify the source". One was from the The American Journal of Hematology which I believe to be rather respectable. So I was wondering if this forum might be more receptive - and perhaps knowledgeable too!

I saw the interim results from the University of Birmingham about the time they were published in The Lancet. That was a bit over four weeks ago. Separately, there was also a video of Dr Helen Parry presenting their findings. Here’s the rub… I don’t recall where I saw them! Hope you find them ok!

Hi Jidd,

Here's a list of clinical trials for vaccine efficacy on CLL patients that I've found so far. Not sure if it's complete. Please let me know if you find more. It would be great to compile them into one place and even create an easily accessible "pinned post."

Dr Helen Parry gave a presentation on research into immune response of leukaemia patients to Covid vaccination. Leukaemia patients each outlined their approach to managing life from 19 July on. About 90 minutes all told.

Video and slides will be accessible via Leukaemia Care's private group on Facebook where you can register. Later on YouTube.

Yes, this is the article published earlier in Blood journal. Probably the most definitive study to date.

Both Tel Aviv and Birmingham are also looking at T-cell responses.

Right now I'm interested in the AZ vaccine so US and Israeli work is of less interest. I saw Helen Parry's video a while back but I haven't seen more from her team or other AZ-based work yet. Have you?

The video shared by neurodervish is the one I mentioned, but it’s the mosr recent I’m aware of. If Dr Parry is on the panel for the webinar bennevisplace spoke of, it will be interesting to hear where they’re at in their progress.

Hi John, Welcome to HU!

I'm interested in any Covid vaccine efficacy study for blood cancer patients, regardless of which one. I figure that, wherever the best answers are to be found, surely our community benefits, especially given research around mix-and-match & boosters. The wider our net is cast, the more data we catch.

As medical research goes, it's still early days. But once enough data is collected, perhaps the best vaccine for us can be made available internationally. I hope to live long enough to see that day. 😋

No, I think Dr Parry's June video is the most recent. Maybe more info tomorrow!

For what it is worth, as a CLL patient, I had my semi-annual appointment with NIH Friday and with respect to covid-19 and being vaccinated by the pfizer vaccine, I was advised to continue to wear a mask and avoid crowds. As to a 3rd shot of the vaccine, the study results are not in yet but I was given the impression that the results should be in and a decision made as to the advisability and efficacy of getting a 3rd booster shot will probably come within a month or so. I specifically asked the NIH doctor about the advisability of going swimming at a fitness center and the doctor advised me that swimming there is OK but that I should avoid the locker room, especially the showers. I'm going to call NIH tomorrow and get a clarification of whether I can use the locker room merely to change clothes or whether to avoid the locker room altogether. I'll update this post when I get the additional info.

My centre request members to arrive with swimming clothes on. They say to shower at home. I intended to start again but needed to wait while I had a bcc removed. Since then the Delta variant has multiplied in uk and I wont risk it. Anne uk
