Any one heard how the trials were going for an alternative to the current vaccines for immunocompromised people , I know they started it a few months ago and it's early days obviously but in the covid eara most of these trials are in the fast lane.
I Was just reading the report from the SAGE meeting it's a realistic scenario that come the 17 th May ending restrictions in conjunction with the new Indian variant there could be a third waves which could be even worse than the second wave of Hospital admissions which is mind blowing especially if you recall mid January but it's also a realistic scenario that it will be no where near the numbers of the other peaks and will be easily managed due to vaccine up take in most regions so it's not all doom and gloom that's the trouble with these scenarios still worrying all the same
Any way started eating advocado's with my eggs for breakfast which takes a lot of getting used to especially when I enjoyed my Vege fried breakfasts 🙁😡

By an alternative to current vaccines I guess you mean protective injection of monoclonal antibodies, since vaccination may not be protective in immunocompromised people.
I am in the Provent trial and last attended about 3 weeks ago. The doctor I saw suggested that Astrazeneca might soon have enough data to submit a new drug application - at that time they were about 2/3 of the way there. They actually need more Covid cases, at a time when most of their trial participants are vaccinated and have been in lockdown.
I read last month that GSK-Vir had submitted an application to the EMA for their monoclonal. I think it must still be under review.
My guess is we won't see these drugs in the UK until Autumn. I hope that they will not have been overtaken by evasive variants.
