Is someone in their late 70's and older too old to have Car-T therapy or a bone marrow transplant?

I am no expert, but my understanding is that one general health and physical condition are more important factors than age. A very otherwise healthy person in their late 70s might be a better candidate than a younger person in poor health with comorbidities.

Of course, age is a factor and the younger the better. But age is not the only factor.

Dana Farber does low intensity transplants for people over 75 dana-farber.org/stem-cell-t...

Car-t is still experimental in trials. you would have to qualify differently

No info about CAR T but my husband had standard bone marrow/stem cell transplant (not low intensity) in his early 70s. Very successful (not for CLL,for aplastic anemia) and very healthy four years later.

He did a lot of research to find someone who would treat someone over 70 with a transplant and had a good track record with older patient transplants. Transplant was at MD Anderson. If you want more info let me know.
