Has anyone experienced herpes simplex (cold sore variety) on their cornea?
My eye doc says it will leave some scarring.
I’m fortunate it was not within my field of vision.

Och!! That must hurt. Hope it heals soon.
Many many years ago, when I was in my 30's - yes and it resolved with no problems that I'm aware of.

Hi toden
In 1990 I had any eye injury which began with a corneal ulcer that was infected with herpes simplex, I do indeed have a scar on my cornea.
At the time, I was working as an industrial quartz glassblower which involved intense heat and the brightest white light you could imagine.
It left me with symptoms of hemeralopia/photophobia ... an abnormal intolerance to visual peception of light.
Light exposure = eye pain .. I never worked again.
The scar itself does not affect me in any way.

Hi roden, i am a cll patient. I have the herpes simplex for many years prior to my cll diagnosis. In my case it usually flares up during stressful periods. My wonderful ophthalmologist put me on an indefinite dose of acyclovir of 800 mg a day as a prophylactic. She usually increases this if there is a flare up. I do have other ocular issues as well. This is just my experience, but I do strongly recommend seeing an ophthalmologist and also giving your medical history in regards to your heamotological malignancies.
Stay strong and stay safe
