MEDS FOR LEG SWELLING
Bume5anide and spirolactone (diuretics)
Have you tried compression stockings? They need to be applied first thing in the morning before you step out of bed. Also, try putting a pillow under your legs at night to elevate your feet above your heart. You can also try squeezing some lemon in warm water and drinking a couple times a day. These are just a couple suggestions we used to give patients when I was a cardiac nurse. The more important question is, does your doctor know why you are retaining fluid?
Best of luck to you,
Nan
Diuretics is the normal thing. Blood pressure is not the only reason to treat - pressure on heart/lungs might be another.
Reducing fluid intake is part of the scheme.. As is controlling sodium intake, as this will cause fluid retention.
I'm on blood thinning meds; nephrotic syndrome causes loss of blood proteins and this also thickens the blood / causes oedema.
If any/all the above apply, then a risk from thicker blood and worsened circulation is DVT (deep vein thrombosis), typically in lower leg; watch for a very sore, inflamed, tightly-swollen limb.. That is time to seek emergency medical help at once. If clot moves to lungs you have a pulmonary embolism with very considerable risk to life.
