I have lost almost 30 lbs since being diagnosed in Feb 2016. Appetite has completely gone. My doctor told me it can happen with any cancer. I would definitely let your doctor know that your appetite is gone and that you are not trying to lose the weight.

10kg is quite a lot in 2-3 months and unintentional weight loss is considered to be a B symptom so a cause for a little bit of concern. Your Dr definitely needs to know.

Hi Jlee,

I lost quite a lot of weight (10% of body weight) in the year before I started treatment. I had had 10 years of watch and weight before that. Weight loss can be a signal that the disease is progressing, so needs to be taken seriously. Do try to eat even though you don't feel like it. It may be worth taking some supplements - e.g. vitamin D. My consultant told me to eat well - including the 'naughty things' (which I took to mean cakes and biscuits). This was somewhat ironic, because a month before I was told by a pharmacist who was reviewing my unconnected cholesterol level NOT to eat foods containing saturated fats! Suffice it to say, I ignored the pharmacist. 😉

Other than no appetite, do you have any digestive issues going on?

I ask because I've lost weight myself but I think it was more due to digestive issues I've had, rather than to CLL.

I was skinny already and can't seem to gain much, so, I'm actually jealous of people who report weight-gain.... period...., but especially those who attribute it to Ibrutinib, which is same med I'm on.

Also some people have posted their pictures on here and they're quite healthy looking, so no, it doesn't seem CLL equals weight loss generally speaking, although obviously we're all different and so are our circumstances.

I try to eat even on days when I might not be hungry because I'm very shallow and don't want to look unhealthy....lol!

Just kidding but no, it's more of a "survival" thing, because obviously our bodies need nourishment and if I could have it my way, I would get a little over-weight just to have "reserves" ;-).
