On the BBC news today - assuming it is correct a small step forward for some people, hopefully some of us.

If true it would be more than a small step personally.

My eldest child had just started school, three days later I had an eye injury that has prevented me from working since 1990. On EVERY DSS medical assessment I received NO points in the vision section ( no problems with vision ) This is due to the fact that my illness/injury wasn't covered in the claim forms.

I have done more courtroom drama than Perry Mason, on more than one occasion I have been told at tribunal that they hope that I never have to go through all this again ... unfortunately that only lasts until the next claim revision arrives.

I had to learn fast that the 'medicals' are a cover for 'box ticking' ... your doctors notes, even consultants notes are only 'opinions'.

I had to give up a career overnight ... suddenly I was in a whole new world, and it was all my fault ...

It's just as well that I had the ' red hair gene ' and enough brain to learn the regulations ... no .. to READ the regulations that govern the 'tick boxing' world of officialdom, I have been denied benefit at every medical .. I have had the decision overturned at EVERY appeal ... it is a nightmare world to live in, and all you hear about in the press is that you are a scrounger, with tens of thousands of pounds to live on ...

The whole system just grinds you down ... visually and audibly impaired ... chronic pain ... poor mobility ... and CLL ... and still I had to appeal.

My CLL doesn't count ... cancer has a 6 month rule ... chemo = kill or cure.

I won my last appeal on asking a simple question ... " what are the symptoms of ( and I quote the decision maker ) 'stable' CLL ? ... (silence)

I have six chronic illnesses ... if they add the word CHRONIC into some of the questions ... maybe, just maybe the nightmare will calm down and just become a bad dream ... then again, if a politician gives you what you want to hear, can you trust it ?

ps ... Mrs ygtgo is looking into the regulations of our marriage vows ... she's looking into the phrase ' For Better ..... '

I put 'small' because I thought it was worthy if sharing but nobody has yet seen if it comes to fruition and what it's effect will be.

Remind the missus 'or worse'.

a small step forward explains it perfectly ...

Until it is made legal, it's just a party political statement .... the Tory Conference tomorrow wouldn't have anything to do with it ....

To me it makes political sense for the Tories to 'hit' Labour when Labour are in such a mess by taking the fight into the centre/centre left ground.

May's testing the water to see if a snap election would strengthen her position as PM.

Mrs ygtgo's ALWAYS reminding me about 'or worse' ... !

Maybe I shouldn't have said that .... well it is our anniversary today.

Congratulations on the anniversary (not the better or worse debate)
