Thanks for posting this link to an encouraging article, SBMACLL. I find it fascinating to read how companion diagnostics for Gleevec (Imatinib) for CML, is held up as an example when at the time, the development of that drug almost didn't happen because there was thought to be no money in it. (The profit/loss position quickly changes when patients need to stay on a maintenance drug for life and they start having near normal life expectancies...)

I can thoroughly recommend reading "Emperor of all maladies" which covers the development of our understanding of the genetic drivers for specific cancers and from that, the derivation of drugs like Gleevec that can halt the growth of particular strains of a specific cancer.
