AIHA AND CLL

I'm having my second bout of AIHA within a year. It is not treatment related, it is pre treatment. Treatment is 60mg of Prednisolone for 6 weeks and if successful tapering down 5mg every two weeks to zero.

Has anyone else experienced repeated bouts of AIHA?

What is AIHA?

AIHA is Auto-immune Hemolytic Anemia. Not iron-deficiency or B12 deficiency.

Immune system is attacking and destroying newly formed red blood cells.

I would consider posting at CLLSA instead. It seems more active and maybe you will get more responses.

Have you had discussions with your doctor about other options like rituximab or cyclosporine?

Again, if you post on CLLSA more people may share your complication. It is also on healthunlocked. Has more members.

Hi.... In September of 2018 I was rushed to the hospital with A.I.H.A. & had to have 4 transfusions with "packed" blood. After 5 days I was allowed to return home and was put on 60mg of prednisone which was reduced every 2 weeks. I stayed in remission for about 7 months at which time it returned. At that point I was given Rituxan infusion for 4 consecutive weeks. On October 2nd,2019 my doctor started me on Ibrutinib and so far so good.
