How is my baby's chances of Biliary Atresia

Hi can any one comment on these results? Results taken on 5th week

My baby GGT went down to 150 last week (6th week), but doctors still dun want to rule out BA. And want to proceed with HIDA scan. I am not really into HIDA as I feel uncomfortable injecting radioactive stuff into my baby.

Poo is bright golden color, on full breast feed.

Anyone with similar readings can advise?

Can email me at zergju@gmail.com also.

Thanks for your time!

Hello, my advice would be if the Dr’s are recommending the HIDA to get it. The earlier the Kasai is done the more effective it usually is. I asked that Drs use a skin Bili check instead of blood draw when my son was a few weeks old and I regret it. Maybe they would have caught the BA sooner and my son could have had his Kasai earlier. The HIDA is not bad at all and hopefully will put your mind at ease that your baby does not have BA.

Hi

I totally understand that you are worried and even scared.

My youngest daugher had high conjugated bilirubin when she was about 4 weeks old and tested because she had yellowish skin as a routine where we live. We went through many many blood tests, hida and other tests as ultra sound of her heart and a sweat test. I felt that the hospital staff were very comforting and explaining and it helped us coop with everything.

The hida scint sounds a lot worse/radioactive than it acctually is. It’s a very small amount and the dose is measured after the patient size. As Vineyard2020 wrote, if there is a blockage the time is crucial.

Wish you and your baby all the best❤️

Hi, she’s four years old now and haven’t had any signs of high bilirubin since then. However we let the doctors take a lot of tests f ex in her case they tested a bunch of hereditary diseases that can affect the liver (blood-tests). This is as I understand necessary to rule out diseases, because of the livers function as a complex organ.

I understad your worries ❤️It was by far the most stressful experience I’ve ever been through.
