I am awaiting liver transplant and I am on dla. Does anyone know what the process is on informing dla that you have had a transplant

Do you inform them after your transplant as ive heard you tell them 3 months after to give you chance to recover but don't want to be classed as a benefit cheat after a serious operation.

Thanks in advance

Hi, our daughter had a liver transplant just over 3 years ago and I think I told dla once we had been home a couple of weeks after transplant, they where really helpful and her dla remained the same until renewal, but our transplant co ordinatir was marvellous and went through what we needed to do and tell etc, hope this helps a bit and best of luck x

During the transplant process there is a social worker who is there to help. Ask them as they are knowledgeable about the processes and what you can and can't claim. Good luck x

Hello Aaron, we at Childrens Liver Disease are not medically trained but we have a wealth of information on transplants and procedures. Please see our website for more information. Should you need help with the DLA form please let us know.
