Which would be a higher Cholestrerol reading-fasting blood test or non-fasting.

Nother
Nither, in 2009 a study found out there is no need to do fasting blood test for cholesterol. In GP blood test the questions is asked "Did you fast?"
I don't think it actually makes a difference. To be honest when I didn't fast my level was lower, much to my consultants amazement!
Well i have just had a cholesterol blood test and i was told to fast for twelve hours but to drink plenty of water to make it easier to get blood from veins. it must make some difference as its usual to do other tests at the same time.Y our doctor will inform you at the time .As with so many other medical conditions the more you read up on them the more contradictions you will find..
Well i was always told fasting as the food will affect the results negativily. But i would imagine- and im not expert that would only be the case if i sat in the GP's room and ate a couple of fat food burgers, couple packs of biscuits and washed down with a 2ltire of fizzy drink lol...
I think the total cholesterol reading would be the same, it's the triglyceride levels that rise after you have eaten.
