Mine is hereditary too. I too have Type 3 and my current level is 5.6. I take one 75g dispersible aspirin and one fenofibrate daily. I have also reduced my weight by over a stone since June.
My Gp tried to convince me mine is hereditary, yet there is no one in my family with any history of high chol, heart conditions, stroke etc. My Chol 'float's at 6 on my current diet, but if i eat junk food ( cakes, biscuits, high fat meats, fast food, pasteries etc) it goes up to about 9.
I was reading on one site that there is three possible reasons for high chol.
1- life style (diet and lack of exersize)
2- Hereditary - body produces too much chol.
3- The body cant process chol in food very well.
How true the third point is, i dont know, but the website i was reading(sorry i cant find the link to it) was saying that gp's only concider two options and ignore the third posibility.
