Two possible tactics:

1. if you take enough medicines, buy a season ticket (PPC): nhsbsa.nhs.uk/1127.aspx "If you will have to pay for more than 3 prescription items in 3 months, or more than 13 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC. The charge for a single prescription item is £7.65, whereas a three month PPC will cost you £29.10 and a 12 month PPC £104.00."

2. if you take one or maybe two medicines, and especially if your treatment is managed by a hospital-based medic, ask your GP to issue longer prescriptions.

As discussed in heartuk.healthunlocked.com/... heart patients should in theory get free medicines, but it's not happened yet. It was frozen by the new coalition as soon as they took office and shows no sign of progress since. Please vote the healthy rich swines out in 2015!
