I am in UK, I have been using UK rick calculator.

This morning I put my latest blood test to do the rick calculation.

At 77, for the next 3 years the risk is very small.

I need to learn more on this risk calculator.

Thank you for the post.

I tried it this morning and my risk is 7.2% by the age of 80?? I am 68 and have been told to take statins by the GP as I apparently scored a 12 (where a figure over 10 means you are at risk) but the GP didn't give me the upper limit amount. Therefore I don't know if the limit is 15 (yipes) or 100 (yippee) - anyone heard of this test? I am so reluctant to take statins but not stupid and will take them if deemed really necessary.

Are you trying plant based. Lots of oats, almonds blueberries etc to lower plus 30 min daily walks? I don’t ever want to take Satins.

I have been eating blueberries every morning for about two years plus almonds most days. I can't eat oats as gluten free and even the gf oats make me ill. I have started using benecol in place of butter so will see if that helps.

In UK, there is QRISK and JBS3 rick calculators the GP use but thinks have changed.

My total cholesterol is 6 mmol/L, my GP said we have to look at all blood numbers therefore I on 6 mg, Rosuvastatin. Blood test at the end of March 2024.

There is a new method GP use. People have lived healthy life with double digit cholesterol.

I have been looking after my blood glucose and cholesterol,a surprise came my way, I had a biopsy for bladder cancer at the end of January awaiting results. This is life, only time will tell.

My total cholesterol is 5.7. It was 6.3 but I reduced it over 4 months by upping exercise and not eating cheese :( When I put in all my blood test results it came up as 0.7 chance of a heart attack. Yet my GP has still put me on a statin Ezitimbe which I started today. I was hoping he would say continue what you're doing for another 6 months.

Good for you! Keep it up! I refused Satins today for small vessel disease I just read too many negative things about satins and focussing on ore plant based . My lipoprotein is high. I go for an Ablation for my Afib tmrw. One thing at a time.
