Genetic Test For FH

Update the results are in!

Had test for FH in April the letter came last Friday. No genetic abnormality found with the known genes that show FH.

The Clinical Diagnosis is probably correct as symptoms are all there.

Sounds a bit contradictory to me but I guess there may be gene patterns as yet unknown, all 25000 can't be checked.

So not sure what happens next but will see consultant in September.

Yes, not all FH genes are known yet, so it can confirm whether or not you've got the known types, but not prove that you've not got FH.

Well done on getting the genetic test. They won't do it on the NHS for me.

DakCB-UK contact BHF OR HEART UK as various hospitals are carrying out genetic testing financed by BHF. Good luck
