Been on statins for many years yet despite a careful diet my cholesterol was still high. Saw a specialist (lipids) who prescribed metformin (very low dose) because although not diabetic I am in a pre-diabetic stage (diabetes may never kick in if I maintain a suitable lifestyle). A combination of this and statins (which I will be looking to reduce) brought down my cholesterol, for the first time in 30 years, to a healthy level of 4.9.

Any comments?

Did you have any side effects when you started statin ad now on statin?

Combination of medication may introduce other health problems.

When you say very low dose, can you explain please?

Life style change, food intake control and regular exercise can help to maintain blood cholesterol, blood pressure and blood cholesterol.

Did your specialist check your weight to waist ratio and BMI, are these two numbers in healthy range?

I started my journey 4 years ago and all the blood numbers are under control with out any medication at the moment, only time will tell, therefore all the questions and explanation.

Here's a little more on the man and his work:

I am not diabetic, nor am I 'pre' diabetic and I intent to remain so.

In line with that philosophy I keenly anticipate a delivery from Amazon!

If it works for you then great.

We are all different and our bodies react to drugs in different ways.

So if you dont have side effects then go for it.
