Which is Better? Last June 2013, on the sound advice of a cardioligist at the Costa del Hostpital,nr Marbella.I had 3 stents put in.

I had severe blockage in 3 arteries. It was sucessful and to date i feel OK. Why Stents, and not a triple by-pass? I was 80 last December,and am in reasonable health for my age. One of the team in the hospital, said to me I was very lucky,and that 15 or so years ago, I would have had a triple by-pass?

There are many factors that determine the necessary procedure for blocked arteries. Did you ask this question in June 2013? Was it an angiogram that told the doctors you need three stent?

May be the doctors made a decision based on recovery process after the procedures! Stent v triple by pass, please do Google and see what information you get!

Enjoy your life with whatever medication you take after the stent procedure.

My friend was sent to a specialist - who told him that he would do stents when his other doctors were saying triple heart bypass - the specialist told him he needed one stent, the other 2 arteries were narrowed but not serious - and that the other docs were suggesting triple by bypass because it's cheaper to do the whole lot in one operation...

Hi. I'm 54 last year 11/12/13 I had 5 stents installed after losing all blood flow below the aorta. The consultant gave me the choice. I am self employed, if I had stents I could be back at work after 3 weeks if I had a bypass it would have been 4/6 months. 1 artery was 100% blocked the other 60%. The consultant did say that he would go with the stents but may need to change to a bypass depending on how things went. My view is todate all is well. If things change I can still have the bypass. I take everyday as it comes and hope I wake up every morning. If some big arteries were blocked chances are so are lots of smaller ones. I will need the consultant more than he will ever need me so I will always be in his debt and will always take his advice without question.
