Just as an aside. I've been researching diet and health for 3 years now and none of the content of Dr. Noakes' work is new to me. What is new is the way he presents it, the content is spot on and he present the evidence in a most convincing fashion backed up with the science and references.

Thanks, Mike. In fact I have found Tim Noakes and his opinions. Thanks for the second link, I'll have a look at that too. But I do despair, listening to " breakfast news" this week they're banging on about 5, now 7 a day and not even mentioning low carb.
HI. EveC. Ye your right, its just a big con between government, media, and most of all the food industry, if the LCHF diet was promoted properly with a ban on sugar etc they would all go bust.
Liked what Tim Noakes had to say.I'm 51 years old and as a child we used to eat things like liver,kidneys and dripping and we were very active children who very rarely got sick.However all you seem to hear about lately is people getting sick all the the time.In my opinion like Tim Noakes i believe we have been sold a lie when it comes to good nutrition,due to the financial greed of big business and political intervention for the benefit of certain sectors of the food and pharmaceutical industry.As for the latest research saying we need 7 fruit and veg a day,nutritionists have known this for years.So it is no surprise.The only surprise is that it has taken them so long to work it out and even when armed with that advise their guidelines are still saying 5 a day because it is easier to remember and most people cant achieve that level anyway.The biggest problem with this advise is that there is no differentiation between fruit and vegetables.So a lot of people i talk to think that it does not mater whether it is fruit or veg so long as they are eating 5,7 or 10 a day of either and if you are addicted to sugar you will generally favour fruit over veg.At the end of the day for all of the benefits of fruit it is still sugar and too much sugar in the body is bad for you.
