can you suffer from angina for a numbe... - Cholesterol Support
can you suffer from angina for a number of years without it being detected.
Hi I had angina for at least three years before it became so bad that I reported it to my GP. By that time I was in no doubt that I had angina and I required an immediate angioplasty. It is easy in the early stages to put symptoms down to other things e.g. being unfit, having asthma, indigestion, pulled shoulder muscles. However, over time, a pattern emerges where you realise that your symptoms are brought on by exercise and are relieved by rest. This is the normal pattern initially although some people have angina even at rest. The symptoms themselves become less like vague discomfort and more clearly angina. The only way to know for sure is to have tests carried out. Your symptoms sound as if they may be angina. Go to your GP as soon as possible and get checked out. Don't risk having a heart attack.
symptoms sound like angina but you need to see a cardiologist for confirmation. Be worth talking to your GP about trying a GTN spray, see if that could help before you go down the road to more invasive treatments. Many people suffer angina attacks for years without intervention....I have angina, it comes and goes, sometimes quite severe, I control it with breathing techniques most of the time but very occasionally need to resort to GTN spray.
hi thankyou for your info will certainly have another chat with gp
Hi
I would say yes,I recently was having a tightness in my throat and pain in my jaw. I was diagnosed very quickly, and within a month or so I had a stent inserted and started on medication, try and see your GP as soon as possible and get a diagnosis, worrying will only make things worse.
Certainly sound like it and need investigation. If not serious angina can be treated like a heartburn until something happens - for my Dad e was like that until he had a massive heart attack and died. He had seen the Doctor who gave him a very clean bill of health 6 days before at my request.
Hi, you need to visit your GP and ask to be referred for investigation of your symptoms. It is easy enough to check if you have Angina or not, ask to be referred to a chest pain clinic.
It could angina, but it could be acid reflux. They can have identical symptoms.
This post is a month old now and hopefully you've seen your GP by now. If you haven't,you must!!
I had the symptoms of angina for ages without realising it. I put all the puffing and panting and not being able to walk fast anymore down to age,too much breakfast,indigestion...... it then became a big problem very quickly. I didn't have a heart attack but my referral to the chest pain clinic was fast thanks to Dr Rust. And the cardiac department team in Oxford were brilliant...Angioplasty done and I'm good now except for the side effects of the statins which I've been on for 2yrs.But I'm going to get off them for a while and see if any of the symptoms go.......Go to your GP please.
